I have lived with two diabetic parents for my whole life. My mom was
diagnosed with gestational diabetes, but it never went away like her
doctor said it would. My father got diabetes about a year after i was
born due to bad eating habits. I have had to learn all about diabetes
and how to deal with some very stressful situations. On Valentine's day
one year my mom went into a diabetic seizure. We live together and i
was the only other person in the house. Looking back now it's obvious I
should ha…

Well it has been AGES since I’ve updated my blog. As many of you know, I’m ‘back’ in school pursuing another degree in Child Studies/Home Visiting with a minor in Family Studies. I’m happy to report that I’ll graduate May 14, YEEE HAWWW! I say all this because last semester took all of my time and energy and that is why there have been no blog updates.
HOWEVER, so much has happened over the last few months. I’ll probably take the next few entries to share some of what we’ve experienced, both go…

January 2010. Where did the time go? I know its a question we ask every year. You would think that we would have the answer by now! Well I don't have the answer to that question but I do have another question that has been asked before that I will be asking again in 2010...Premier Williams, please, please, please expand our provincial insulin pump program to include those over 18 years of age!!!
Yes, its that time of year again! Its time to roll up our sleeves, bring out our dialing fingers and…

Hey Everyone!
Happy Monday!! :) It was so beautiful here in Las Vegas, getting colder by the day, which is awesome! :) It was in the 80’s last week…it’s in the 70’s this week…and according to Aunt Mama (who is the group weather-woman..) :) says it’s going to be in the 60’s next week…Yay! :)
Later tonight, MJ2 has rehearsal and we’re totally loving every minute of this past year! I can barely wait for rehearsal today, much less the upcoming show itself….which reminds me, I need to vocalize….…

Hey Mollie and Jackie. I met you and your family along time ago. I was best friends with Austin Gatlin, and practically lived at the Gatlin's house. His little sister Lauren has diabetes, and I met yall on the JDRF walk in Dallas. That same weekend we all went to the fair. I live in Austin now, and was just surfin the web and came across yalls website. I just wanted to see how yall were and if you remembered me.

I am hypoglycemic - and found out that I too have a condition which could lead to diabetes. It's pretty rough getting used to it especially the food list that the doctor's gave me. I'm glad I have a support group from my buddies at my
addiction center, but I know it's not going to be an easy task to ensure that I take in the proper foods to ensure my sugar levels stay stable.
I just purchased these "glucose" tablets - has anyone…

As everyone knows from previous posts here and talking to me, my dad is a type one diabetic and when I was ten years old I brought him around from a hypo purely by chance! That was only cause my Momma drummed it into me at an early age with me 'If Daddy starts shaking and Grabs Mommy or another adult by the hand he needs sugary stuff,' I am ever thankful to my Momma teaching me that. I love my Dad and I see him face diabetes and marvel at how he doesn't let it hold him back.
Just today I was di…

The walk today was a blast! We had 13 people walking with us and it was so fun. 3 of our team members this year are T1's - Nikki, Zoe and Mikayla - they are all at the same school now and have become close friends. They even call themselves "D 3" which I think is adorable. I decided to do a video for…

Okay people tomorrow is walk day! We are so pumped. I wanted to take this opportunity to let one of Nikki's best friends say a few words. She took it upon herself to organize a Max Life Bracelet sale at her school and worked so very hard to raise money on behalf of Nikki and all those affected by diabetes. Sooooo…
