Hi There,

My husband was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when he was 19 yrs (I had just met him then). We we married when I was 21 and we had a son a year later. I never imagined how diabetes would effect my life in such a powerful way as it did and still does today. After celebrating my son's 7th birthday i notice he was rapidly losing weight so i took him to his pediatrician who said i was lucky we caught it when we did and how he had become type 1 diabetic and that it was genetic. Thankfully with the help of doctos and of course his father who was very ill from his diabetes we were able to barely manage his eratic sugars , what i learned at that point was that we were lucky just for him not to have gone into a coma. Struggling for 4 years, we thought we might have had a grasp on the situation and then my husband was stricken horribly ill from his diabetes and landed in the hospital, he spent almost 6 months in and out of a coma and finally his heart and lungs gave out. I am only 35 yrs old and my son is now on a pump to control his sugars and doing so very well, but I will always fear for his health and hope thatwhat happened to his father doesnt happen to him, thankfully he just turned 13. I am looking for some guidance for myself and for my son - if there is anyone who can assist me with health insurance or anything with medication since i lost my job please contact me via email.
