I was 4 years old and got pneumonia, and that's when everything turned upside down. After many doctor's visits, i was diagnosed in 1980. I was possibly the youngest to ever be put on an insulin pump (back then they were the size of a VCR tape and you can imagine how awkward I felt, at 4 years old. I am now 32 years old. The Minimed paradigm is the pump I'm using now. I'm on disability now though, due to the diabetes and other chronic conditions related to the diabetes. The only way people on Medicare can get their CGM covered, is to write our congressmen and try our best to change the law. UHC, Aetna, and a few others are paying for it. I'll send you some links regarding how much more monetarily efficient it would be for Medicare as well as all insurance companies to cover the CGM. Medicare spends trillions on diabetes-related complications, such as blindness, kidney/liver failure, multiple hospitalizations for ketosis, not to mention the costs of surgeries for kidney and liver transplants. Also the cost of some of the people with diabetes end up having to have amputations due to the lack of blood flow. I'm in here to help in anyway that I can.
