Like I tell my 5, 6, 9, and 11 year old children, don't believe everything that you see on the internet! I have attached the most recent FDA Warning Letter regarding Animas. The point is that all medical device companies, auto manufacturers, meter manufacturers, grocery stores, clinics, labs, etc have issues. The good thing is that many, if not all, fix all of the problems. Please provide factual information when blogging. one last note, I have a 508 for you if you want it.

Again I'm sorry. The recall was do to a very specific issue with the infusion set. Mainly dealing with high altitudes. Have you had a chance to download your pump to see if there were any alarms when there was an over or under delivery of insulin? I know this doesn't make up for the customer rep not telling you about recall but perhaps she thought you had already received FedEx info on recall. Please email me at isaac.gornichec@medtronic.com. We can chat more offline about specifics.

I get my supplies directly from medtronic. They were able to send me bills and a call when I needed a new prescription from my doctor. After my lows (I had 5 lows in 7 days). On 3 of those paramedics had to be called and another I was driving and was pulled over. Paramedics had to be called then also. I called medtronics to see if there was something wrong with my pump. The lady I talked to went through all kinds of steps and decided to send me a new pump next day. But she never even brought up the recall then. At that point I didn't even know about the recall. This also caused me to not put my pump back in for 2 weeks because I was scared to death of having another low blood sugar. The situation has made me extremely upset with the company. Also, I have had to pay for all those paramedics calls. I just feel the company should of handled the situation better. If they can get in touch with me to bill me or to get a prescription called in they could of contacted me with the recall.

I haven't had any issues with my daughters minimed pump (knock on wood). She's had it almost 2yrs. I received all the necessary info on the recall. Actualy I received a box of infusion sets as well as the info on the recall. I only had one box with an extra 4 sets and all were replaced. The good side, we didn't have any problems with the lot 8's we had used. I think you will probably have some good and bad in all the pumps. Some may have better luck than others. If you can find the one that works for you than that's what matters.
Nice to know about the San Antonio facility. Thanks for your post Isaac.
